Three things to check with any provider before you sign up.
Privacy
AI receptionists record or transcribe calls and store callers' details. Ask each provider where recordings and transcripts are stored (in Canada or elsewhere) and how long they're kept, and tell callers if calls are recorded. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) publishes guidance on PIPEDA; Quebec businesses also have Law 25 to consider.
Canadian phone numbers
Check whether you get a local number or a toll-free number (such as 1-800 or 1-888). To keep your existing number, ask whether the provider can port it in, and out again if you leave. Local number portability is regulated by the CRTC.
Prices and sales tax
Every Canadian price here is in Canadian dollars (CAD), copied from the provider's own pricing page. Of the 16 providers listed, 1 says prices are before sales tax and 15 don't say, shown as Unknown. GST, HST, PST or QST may be added depending on your province.
